I've two daughters in their mid 20s.

My advice to them is to start by loving yourself 'cos if you can't do that you can't expect anyone else to love you. If you feel rubbish about yourself you will as sure as night follows day be attracted to people who don't think much of you, such is the power of the ego.

Actually, I was trying to address the duality of man or something along those lines, going from one extreme (sarcasm) to the other (wearing my heart on my sleeve) in the same (somewhat romanticised) text, and so flipping my reader's feelings in a second. I hope I did that.

I'm happily married. My wife has a big heart and she's a cutie. There was indeed a girl on the bus that day who inspired me to write this. She was reminiscent of one I met on the Net, who's ugly, very sweet, and for whom I have nothing but respect, because she embraces her femininity with pride, and she respects me because I find that very moving.

Our most profound need is to have our world reflected back to us. That's how all cults/religions work. It is how Jimmy Jones got everybody to drink the cool-aid, once you see it you cannot unsee it.

I'm sorry, I don't know who Jimmy Jones is. As for our world being reflected back to us, I believe it happens all the time. What we need is to perceive it.
